Ms. Katie Parker

I love teaching 1st grade at St. Joseph School!  Being a part of this parish and community is very special to me.  I have a bachelor’s degree in Elementary and Special Education from Lewis University and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Saint Francis. I started my teaching career working for District 118 in Palos Heights, Illinois. I was a special education teacher for eight years before I decided to stay home and raise my two sons. Now that they are a little older (and also attend St. Joes), I decided it was the perfect time to go back into teaching. I love reading and enjoy teaching all subjects, but being able to incorporate faith into my daily lessons makes it so much more special!

In my spare time, I’m usually driving my boys around and getting them to their sports commitments.  I also love woodworking, listening to music, and traveling.

One thing I want my students to know is how deeply committed I am to their learning – socially, emotionally, academically, and spiritually. I feel truly blessed to be a part of the St. Joseph community!
