Fr. Nestor Lopez

I am Fr. Nestor Lopez. I was born in Cali – Colombia. I have a degree in pastoral theology from Bogotá, Colombia. I am the second of four brothers. My younger brother died when he was 15 years old, and I was 16 at the same time; now I have a brother, a sister, and my mother, my father, who passed away two years ago.

I am 54 years old, 24 years ordained as a religious priest. I have belonged to a religious community called La Inmaculada Concepción for 32 years, and now I am in the process of being incardinated in this diocese of Joliet.

As a religious missionary priest, I have lived in the Dominican Republic, Rome, Italy, Indiana Diocese of Gary, and San Augustin, Florida, in the Sanctuary of Our Lady of La Leche in the United States.

And now, here in this diocese of Joliet, I hope never to move and stay forever.

I am a musician; I play the guitar and some piano. Music is part of my essence; I think it is one of my talents to give Jesus Christ through music.

Finally, my hobby is motorcycles and scooters. I enjoy feeling the freedom of traveling and good food while I can.
